Genesis

7th May 2019

The idea and foundation for soapbox101 is born. One developer, one goal, one mission. To deliver a discussion forum that stands out above all others by allowing you to discuss literally anything.

Alpha platform released to closed testing group

8th May 2019

A small selection of users are chosen via LinkedIn chat to partake in the alpha version of what would eventually become soapbox101.

First round of bug swatting starts

9th May 2019

As is typical with most new applications, a large amount of unintended bugs are identified, and subsequently squashed.

soapbox101 enters Beta 1

11th May 2019

After several days of testing in Alpha, soapbox101 enters Beta 1

Dedicated monitoring and security hardening completed

16th May 2019

Using an established vendor in the security and monitoring sector, soapbox101 creates a partnership that allows the security vendor to perform a range of security checks and stop bad traffic before it even hits the site itself.

soapbox101 initial penetration and vulnerability testing

17th May 2019

soapbox101 conducts the first public penetration and vulnerability assessment. Further hardening tasks completed

soapbox101 enters Beta 2

Testing community expands to 12 members

24th May 2019

More interested users join the testing community !

New image identified and implemented for site

5th June 2019

The first incarnation of the site’s branding and associated image looked a bit, well, crap 🙂 Found a new one to replace it with and after unanimous agreement from testers, it’s now live.

New logo design started

New collaboration with a professional designer started in order to create a nice new flashy logo.

Finally got round to adding the ability to login and sign up with social media accounts.

Two Factor Authentication now available

Security tested

16th June 2019

Part of the soapbox101 core involves testing each email account or password being used as part of the registration process. One user has issues signing up and upon investigation, it transpires that this password was previously used in a breach. Security working as intended ! 🙂

We’ve moved to a VPS

23rd July 2019

As more subscribers joined the platform, things started to be a “bit on the slow side” during peak times. We’ve now moved onto a VPS that has a much better performance rate, and are also using REDIS cache to dramatically improve load times.
